Hip Hop, West Coast Rap, Jersey Club, and Homies: Los Angeles Edition | jena së kwa

We're in the city of Angels, so DJ jena së kwa had to deliver tracks from West Coast rap classics. It's giving YG, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, Nipsey Hustle, Dom Kennedy, and Schoolboy Q type-ish. And to be frank, what would a Cali Classics mix be without the Fresh Prince theme song entering the chat!?

jena së kwa also peppered a lil bit of Meek Mill, Guzzi Mane, Jay-Z, and T.I which were all topped off by a lot of bad b*tches in the buildin', AMEN! Don't miss out on this set by jena së kwa, recorded live at Kismet Cazimi with joy, magnetic energy, and homies.

Jersey Club, Hip-Hop, R&B and Homies: San Diego Edition | DAUCHÉ

TBH, it would have been criminal to host Homies in SoCal and not invite thee oh-so-gifted DAUCHÉ, to kick it with the Homies. Plus, it’s 619 Day (San Diegos' area code) and Juneteenth, so we're dropping a special set by San Diego's own, DAUCHÉ.

You'll be enticed to bop throughout the entire mix from the first drop until the last few seconds. DAUCHÉ is just that talented! Her journey as a DJ began behind the scenes as a writer, photographer, promoter, and artist manager. Now, she tours with Colors Worldwide for R&B ONLY internationally. Deep, Soulful, Electronic Beats and Homies: San Diego Edition | NiSSAH

The Homies officially have our first vinyl set and are deeply grateful to NiSSAH for sharing her tunes with us! From Chris and Ciara's b2b set to the turntables, San Diego was v much our place of firsts.

NiSSAH began collecting records at a young age and has always enjoyed sharing music with family and friends as a form of self-expression. The fact of the matter is, her crates are vast. From He Loves Me by Jill Scott to Bug-A-Boo, the remixes are on point. Cheers to having fun and hearing tunes you didn’t know you needed.

Hip-Hop, R&B, Amapiano, and Homies: San Diego Edition | DJRO

We have a real one in the buildin'! Shoutout to DJRO for making the mission from the Bay to Daygo for Homies: San Diego Edition.

This is actually DJRO's third time rockin' with us, and what's really dope is when you listen to his other two mixes on the channel, they each have a different personality. Here, he kept the vibes smooth and enticing, serving up R&B, Reggae, Hip-Hop, and mashups. It's giving Larry June, Cleo Soul, and Evelyn Champagne a baby, and this is the soundtrack to their life.

DJRO started djing in his homies basement and has been bringing folks of all walks of life together since!

Amapiano, Gqom, Hip-Hop and Homies: San Diego Edition | jena së kwa

One of the best and worst parts of producing this series is spending several hours before release reviewing the content. Whether watching it to big up yo' self or to critique, it is super easy to get in your head about each song selected, transition, and movement. That's how our girl jena së kwa felt this week. Read below for more on her perspective.

NGL, y'all, I strongly contemplated not releasing this mix. It took me several days to watch it, and when I finally did, I spent most of my time cringing through it. I can tell you ten billion things I don't like about it, yet the reality is, none of that matters.

I am finding joy in being both a creator and a consumer of my art. I am falling in love with the process of evolving my ear and technical skills to where I know I can be. I am open to equally sharing in my best and not so great moments.

Thank you for receiving this mix (and me) gently.

R&B, Amapiano, Blendz, and Homies: Oakland Edition | Drew Banga

As y'all know, The Town, aka Oakland, holds a special place in our hearts. So, we curated a thoughtful lineup of born and bred DJs to commemorate the annual 510 Day, Oakland's area code.

Allow us to introduce you to Producer and DJ, Drew Banga. Drew has been making music for several years, yet began DJing professionally 5 years ago. As a producer, his credits include Kamaiyah’s “I’m On,” Rexx Life Raj and ymtk’s “What’s Up,” 1-O.A.K.’s “Lost & Found," which he co-produced with Kuya Beats. Other artists Drew Banga has worked with are G-Eazy, Bryce Savoy, BayBoogy, GOONTHURRS, Guapdad4000, P-Lo, All Black, Wade08, IAMSU, and Rayana Jay.

Throughout this mix, you'll get glimpses of his style, which is R&B-based with a lot of soul. As an Oakland native, Drew is a bright spirit who actively curates space for community and connection through music, while keepin' it funky.

R&B, Jersey Club, Hip Hop and Homies: Oakland Edition | jena së kwa

Call it her eclectic music taste orrrrr the presha to curate a different set for every occasion; either way, that gyal jena së kwa did the thing again. And when we say "the thing," we're referring to the quick trip we took worldwide through varying genres of music.

From '93 Til Infinity to Cupcake No Fillin', it's safe to call this mix an ode to Jena's upbringing in the Bay. We even got a lil tbt shoutout to It's A Look, the podcast she previously hosted with her bestie, Fre. These are tunes from her spin instructor days, the ones she returned home with after her first few trips to South Africa. It's the perfect concoction of nostalgia and energy to get ya through.

Hip-Hop, Rap, Bay Slaps, and Homies: Oakland Edition | Anthony Dragons

To wrap up our 510-Day lineup at Kinfolx downtown Oakland, we invited the one and only Anthony Dragons to kick it with the homies.

TBH, this man needs no introductions. He is a highly active and widely respected world tour DJ for DUCKWRTH, with bookings ranging from Asia, Europe, the UK, and The Town. His name is Dragons, so you know the mix is fire off top. As an open-format selector with a wide palette, his sets often weave through genres from Hip Hop, RnB and Soul, Dancehall, Afrobeats, and more. In this mix, he stayed true to his Bay Area roots, playing a bit of Keak Da Sneak, Mistah Fab, 1-O.A.K., and Too $hort.
